Merit Badge Counseling

Use your hobby, professional skills, or personal interest to help a scout explore a topic of interest.

To become a merit badge counselor you need to do the following:

1. Register as an Adult Leader with BSA

   • This requires YPT, AB506, LiveScan and registering with the troop just like you would do for overnight campouts.

2. Complete Merit Badge Counselor training

   • Online Training About Being a Merit Badge Counselor

   • or watch out for District / Council organized sessions

On the merit badge counselor application you choose the merit badges that you will teach.  Choose from the over 139 badges.  See the list of badges and requirements for each here. 

You should choose badges that you have interest and/or skills in.  We are always looking for counselors for the required Eagle badges
